Samar is an Egyptian researcher and human rights defender currently working as a Communications and campaigns consultant for the Egyptian Human Rights Forum and content moderator in Sutherland global company, and formerly MENA and Turkey Research and engagement coordinator in the Coalition For Women In Journalism, and an Executive director of Andalus Institute for Tolerance and anti-violence studies.

She holds a degree in Political Sciences from Egypt, a Master’s degree in International Management from the Czech Republic, and another Master’s degree in International Law and Human Rights from Tartu University in Estonia. She has experience in advocacy both nationally and internationally, and she is experienced in election monitoring, reporting, protection of human rights defenders and journalists. Samar also worked in the European Parliament as a member of the EUROMED gender working group.
